How Struggling Students Can Still Succeed In Life

“How Struggling Students Can Still Succeed In Life”  There are many examples of students who made bad choices, failed classes or got in with the wrong crowd, but still blossomed into happy and healthy adults. There are many reasons for this, but researchers have indicated the most important one is mindset. These students are able to frame their failures in a new light. The meaning these students attach to their setbacks determines if they will overcome them. For students, the meaning others in their life, like their parents and teachers, attach to their failures is a big determinate as well.

One of the big misconceptions that can set students back on the road of life is that those who do well in school are smart and those who don’t are not. This can lead to students becoming discouraged and not trying to overcome their failures. There are other ways that parents and teachers can support students in such a way that it helps them overcome their failures.

All students want to feel like they are valued in some way, and students who struggle in classes lack this feeling. Teachers and parents can help kids get this feeling by providing them with jobs to do that play to their strengths.

Many students that struggled in their classes remember adults trying to help them, but they also remembered this help being viewed as shameful. It is important to give these kids the help they need in a way that doesn’t make them uncomfortable. But it is also important to give these students a sense of challenge and raise the bar when they are performing well.

Students can feel lonely or ostracized and this is not good for their learning. Teachers and parents can be understanding and help create a calm learning environment for students free from bullying.

Teachers and parents should foster a growth mindset in their students. This values the effort over the success. This gives the student a sense that intelligence is not something that is fixed, but something that can be developed. This encourages students to work hard to get better.

Students that might not be strong in the classroom might have gifts and talents in other areas. It is important for parents and teachers to recognize and celebrate those.

Students might find their school climate toxic, so teachers and parents should try to help foster an environment where students encourage each other and rewards good behavior.

Students who are struggling may feel alone. Teachers and parents should help their children see themselves as resilient, and this encourages students to keep working on themselves.

Although it is important to recognize the big role teachers and parents play in changing the course of a student’s life, they should also be aware that circumstances have a huge impact on a student. Students are not limited to what they can do at school, by teaching them to keep working on what they can improve on parents can teach them to succeed in life.
